Our Story
So.. where did it all start?
What started as an idea has become a movement of innovation and discovery.
Together, we continue to explore new depths and redefine what’s possible in the water.
2023
The Marine Robotics Club (formerly the Marine Design Club) was founded in September 2023 and quickly gained its first members. We started working on our first ideas and brainstorming how we wanted to tackle the challenges of designing an autonomous submarine.
2024
Our team hosted our first design review in February 2024 and attended our first competition in August 2024, placing 15th out of 50+ teams.

2025
We have been granted status as a UBC Okanagan Engineering Design Team, which allows us access to more resources and support to enhance our team and provide better learning opportunities for our members. A massive thank you to the School of Engineering at UBC Okanagan for their support!
In August 2025, the team attended our 2nd RoboSub competition in California and placed 11th out of 58 teams!

Moving into the rest of year, we now have a team of over 80+ people! Working hard for RoboSub 2026.
