Okanagan Marine Robotics led multiple outreach sessions at Kelowna Secondary School (KSS), engaging students in Grades 10–12. We introduced our team, explained our operations, and highlighted real-world skills like sponsorship, logistics, and media. Students explored our AUV prototype, seeing components like the torpedo, grabber arm, leak sensors, and hydrophones. We explained our autonomy software and how sensors like the DVL, IMU, and RGBD cameras enable real-time decision-making. We also mentored KSS students, assisting with robot design and programming. Additional sessions included a university and career workshop, team presentations with other UBCO groups, and a physics-focused talk linking classroom theory to robotics practice.

In January 2026, a few members of the OKMR team brought an interactive presentation to the KSS Robotics class, where students explored all aspects of the AUV. With the AUV placed at the centre of the room, students were encouraged to walk around it, observe components up close, and ask lots of questions. We introduced the different sub-teams and talked about the RoboSub competition, highlighting the similarities between our competition requirements and what students were familiar with in their robotics club. They watched many videos of the AUV in action before we opened the floor to a Q&A. The students asked many questions about the AUV's capabilities, how it was built, and the reasoning behind different design choices, which sparked meaningful conversations about engineering and problem-solving.
